Construction of a new vehicle maintenance facility with sustainability at its core.
This project involved the new build of a modern commercial vehicle maintenance facility for Scania, with associated offices, meeting rooms and welfare facilities. We were involved from the planning stages and throughout pre-contract design, procurement and construction, providing consulting advice, design, energy modelling and governance.
The site was the first of a new generation of purpose-built drive-through Scania depots, with the site chosen for its proximity to the motorway network. The building has five bays for servicing and repair, with a drive-through MOT bay, stores, offices, meetings rooms and welfare facilities over two floors, and an environmental station.
Major challenges included bringing utilities to the site, which required directional drilled ducts under the full width of the M20 through which services were pulled.
Sustainability was an important aspect of the project, with the installation of photo-voltaic panels on the roof, sustainable rainwater drainage systems, and the achievement of a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating.
