Continued expansion and automation integration in a live distribution centre.
KAM were originally appointed to support and lead in the development of a fit-out programme and support the negotiations for a developer-led 600,000 sq ft base build.
Two years after completion, KAM were appointed to lead the delivery of an extra 400,000 sq ft of multi-level mezzanines and a rack supported structure. This was delivered in various phases within the existing live building and included managing the interface between the automation and the building.
Following this, KAM then commenced the management of a further 350,000 sq ft of mezzanine floors. Once again, all the works were undertaken around the 24/7 operation, but there was a greater emphasis on phasing with less space. KAM led the creation of the scope of works, with JD and the automation contractor, and, in parallel with this, the development of a complex fast-track programme with a focus on maintaining the day-to-day operations of the DC.
KAM were also appointed to support on negotiations with the developer on a 350,000 sq ft extension to the existing building. As before, this involved leading the team on managing the automation interface with the building, and negotiating enhancements to the base build. Once the developer handed the extension across to JD, KAM led the installation of further fit-out works, including working with the automation contractor.

With a requirement for extra space within our Kingsway site, our first call was to the KAM team following their work on the original fit-out in 2011. Working in a live building, delivering a complex fit-out and to a tight programme has all been led and managed by KAM over the last 18 months. Scott has been the link for us since the original fit-out works, supporting us throughout.
