The project involved the construction of a new teaching building for Construction and Engineering T Levels.
Abacus provided project management, cost management and employer’s agent services on this project. Abacus managed the T-Level funding application and, when successful, delivered the project on behalf of the college. As the college was not sure on the level of funding they would receive, Abacus procured the initial phase of the project (which was designed in detail) but allowed for the option to appoint the same contractor for the second phase (high level outline design).
Tender documents were prepared to allow for transparent competition based on both elements of the project. A contract was successfully awarded allowing an early start while the second phase design was developed. The project finished on budget and four weeks ahead of programme.
