Continued support for the Sport England design framework.
Abacus has been appointed on the Sport England (SE) Technical Assurance and Sport England Design Frameworks for the past 4 framework renewals (following successful tender reappointments), most recently reappointed in April 2024, with key staff involved on the Sport England Framework for over 20 years. During this time, Abacus has been involved in many different themed funding rounds and initiatives.
Projects have ranged from c.£10k to c.£50 million. Through the larger Sport England Funding Rounds, Abacus have supported the delivery of over 40 large-scale new build or refurbished leisure centres. This support more often commences at the very outset of a projects development working in consultation with the Client and business/leisure consultant right through to the Completion of the scheme.
Abacus supports the Sport England design framework. The Framework involves providing design and advice to Sport England and applicants on good practice, design guidance and also deliver research and development into new technologies.
Abacus are currently leading the delivery of the new Sport England Swimming Pool Design Guidance and have recently supported Sport England in the development of industry good practice documentation such as the Sport England Affordable Sport Centre documentation (including 25m and 50m pool options), Affordable Sport Halls, Clubhouse Maintenance Guidance, Clubhouses & Pavilions Guidance, Leisure Local pool concept.
