Extensive and major mechanical and electrical projects across various parts of the UK.

ESP was appointed to the Co-operative Group’s Framework in 2015 and work extensively across the estate and workstreams providing the a variety of duties and services. These included acting as MEP model design gatekeepers for their food retail, funeral care, and logistics businesses, as well as providing energy advice and supporting with building regulation compliance. ESP also contributed to the development of new food retail space through store extensions and acquisitions.

There was also a major food retail re-fit programme, which involved refreshing the existing state and delivering re-branding tasks including design for modification and the replacement of key M&E services.

Electrical resilient power supplies were undertaken to maintain stable and reliable power supplies to critical operations. ESP also authored key M&E asset strategies and provided design work for both planned and unplanned asset replacement works.

In addition, ESP delivered a number of special projects across the corporate estate. These included LED replacements, electric vehicle charger (EVC) rollout, energy assessments, and the remodelling of key office facilities.

ESP’s role within the Co-op has evolved to be the first choice MEP consultant and key advisor to Co-op internal engineering team and stakeholders.

Our role encompasses all elements of MEP and associated energy aspects, including key governance across multiple work streams and the full Co-op estate.

Throughout all work streams, we are required to review the contractors’ design proposals and, on site works, provide advice in relation to ensuring cost-effective optimised services engineering solutions. This involves supporting value engineering to meet budget constraints.

ESP have been our go-to MEP consultants for several years, providing first-rate advice and support across our entire estate. In addition, the ESP team have become ingrained in our internal engineering team, helping us with key strategic and delivery support. The customer-first attention and detail provided by James and the wider ESP team reassures us that our estate’s MEP, energy and sustainability requirements are regularly exceeded and continual added value is present throughout their team.
